Volunteering for a PTA role is a great way to make a big impact and stay connected to the school. The work of the PTA is critical to so much of what make Barron Park Elementary great. Only parents with executive board roles are required to attend a monthly board meeting which is typically Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:30pm.
Any involvement-large or small- makes a difference in our children’s lives. If you have questions about any of the roles please contact the PTA Board.
After School Activities Chairs
Coordinate with vendors and collaborate with the school secretary to run the PTA funded after school scholarship program.
Support the VP School Fundraising to organize the event, solicit donations, and coordinate volunteers for our annual auction and dinner fundraiser held each March. Training provided.
Conduct audits of Barron Park PTA financial records.
Book Fair Coordinator
Coordinate event and organize volunteers for our week-long Scholastic book faire held each November. 40 hours total.
CAC Inclusion Rep
Organize two parent/principal coffees for parents of children with IEPs and 504s. There is also an option to organize events for students on Inclusive Schools Week, Unity Day, and/or Autism Awareness week.
Record and deposit all PTA donations and issue receipts.1.5 hours per month. 1-2 meetings per year. Training provided by outgoing parent.
Collect eNews announcements and format for our weekly newsletter. Edit where needed. We currently use Constant Contact. 2 hours per week. The weeks are split evenly between all news editors. Training provided by outgoing parents.
Health and Wellness Representative
Foster a culture of health throughout the school. A few meetings with the Palo Alto PTA Council throughout the year are required. 2-10 hours per year depending on what activities/events you decide to put on.
Order, organize delivery of, food per PTA budget for staff first day lunch, BTS night staff dinner, staff appreciation lunch and coffee, principal coffees, PTA welcome coffee. 15 hours total spread over the school year.
Conduct initial data import at the beginning of the year and add/delete new families throughout the year. 5 hours for beginning of the year, 1.5 hours pr month there after. Training provided by outgoing parent.
Library Volunteer Coordinator
Volunteer in the library and help our librarian schedule and coordinate with classroom parent volunteers. 5 hours per month.
Oversee fundraising efforts at our school site as directed by PiE. 20 total hours over the school year.
Communicate issues to the city and district and best practices to parents. 1 hour per month on average.
School Marquee Steward
Check the school calendar and change out the marquee at the front of the school on a monthly basis. 1.5 hours per month.
Social Media Coordinator
Periodically post to the BP’s social media accounts with photos and reminders. Training provided by outgoing parent.
Spirit Wear Chair
Design, order, and oversee the sales and distribution of school spirit wear.
Maintain Barron Park’s PTA website.
