Walk-a-thon

Rain or Shine…

We will BEE going on a spooky scavenger hunt
Friday October 22nd – Sunday October 24th

Get outside, walk in your neighborhood– physically distant–and help raise money for the school!

All Barron Park students are encouraged to participate in this FREE event that promotes healthy habits and exercise. Read on for details about the weekend’s activities and a fun surprise on Saturday (weather permitting) that you won’t want to miss!

Friday, October 22nd: First Lap Kick-off
This is a student-only event where we will open the weekend Walk-a-Thon by walking a first lap (or two, or three) around the school together. Students will be released at regular dismissal time with T-shirt, pedometer and scavenger hunt directions to continue walking in their neighborhood throughout the weekend. (Note: Kindergarteners will walk at 11am, with TK, but will will return to class to be released at regular 2:20pm dismissal time)

Please make sure your students are wearing PE compatible shoes to school. If there is rain, we will walk a modified path underneath the awnings. 

Saturday, October 23rd: PTA Trick or TREAT Station at Barron Park Elementary School

While you’re out walking, plan to visit the PTA sponsored Trick or Treat Station in the parking lot at Barron Park Elementary School for snacks, prizes, spirit wear sales, and a FREE soft serve ice cream cone from the Mr. Softee Truck for ALL Barron Park students*. To avoid crowding we invite our TK – 2nd grade families to join us between 12noon-1pm and our 3rd-5th grade families between 1pm-2pm. *additional cones available for siblings if time and supply allows, see PTA members at station

Monday, October 25th: Turn in pledge envelopes

PTA volunteers will collect pledge envelopes in the driveway before school – remember to wear your pedometer to track your steps all weekend! Even if you’ve set up an online fundraising page at barronpark.walkstarter.org, you’ll want to turn in your envelope with your steps recorded. The classrooms with the most overall steps and highest participation rate will earn our coveted GOLDEN SNEAKER Award for the next year! 

Welcome back to School!

Barron Park students, teachers and families – we are so excited to welcome you back to Barron Park Elementary School this week. We can hardly believe it’s been nearly 18 months since we’ve had our whole school community on campus together. We can’t wait to see you all.

While this school year will look more like normal, COVID-19 is still a major factor in all of our lives. Many school events and PTA activities will be altered to ensure our community’s safety and compliance with PAUSD and County regulations. Watch this space for more information and updates…

Know the School Schedule and Safe Routes to School

Review the PAUSD COVID-19 Safety Plan. Some policies and procedures have changed from last year. What’s not changed – every BP student and adult staff member will be required to wear a mask indoors unless they have a medical exemption.

And finally, join us for an online meet & greet with our new Principal Judy Argumedo at 6pm on Thursday, August 12th. Zoom Link to be posted soon.
